Veterinarian & Co-Founder

Dr Jagdeep Singh

Dr Jagdeep Singh brings more than 15 years of veterinary experience to North Balwyn Village Vets, much of it gained practising in New Zealand.

He began his career in mixed animal practice in Canterbury, caring for a wide variety of animals, including family pets, dairy and beef cattle, sheep, alpacas, deer and goats.

Jagdeep also worked with the New Zealand Government in animal welfare and food safety. He found the animal welfare work especially rewarding, partnering with communities to promote responsible pet ownership, raise awareness of welfare standards and help protect animals from neglect and mistreatment.

Since moving to Australia, Jagdeep has worked in small animal practices across Melbourne’s south-east, as well as in locum and mobile veterinary roles. He particularly enjoys house calls, which allow him to care for pets in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes. Working across a range of clinics has given him experience with diverse cases, teams and approaches to veterinary medicine, and has shaped his vision for North Balwyn Village Vets as a welcoming, practical and compassionate clinic for pets and their families.

For Jagdeep, excellent veterinary care is about more than treating illness. It means listening carefully to pet owners, understanding what matters most to each family, explaining treatment options clearly and working together to make the decisions that are right for each individual pet.

Outside the clinic, Jagdeep enjoys spending time with his young family. He is a keen cricket fan, enjoys classical music and loves gardening whenever he has the opportunity.

The family does not yet have a pet in Australia, but once they are settled closer to the clinic, Jagdeep looks forward to welcoming a large breed dog and, if all goes to plan, a cat.
